NEW FOR 2024
Major refresh and update for the EXC and EXC-F range
Frame
Frame has undergone major updates to improve overall dynamics, anti-squat behavior, and overall stability.
Thicker frame walls now contribute to improved reliability.
Specifically engineered longitudinal rigidity provides exceptional rider feedback, energy absorption, and stability.
Repositioning of rotating masses in the frame and forged steering head connection.
Topology-optimized frame wall thickness for specific rigidity and improved reliability in high-stress areas.
New shock mount, significantly improving anti-squat behavior.
New parallel frame mounts for improved flex characteristics on 2-stroke models.
Footrest mounts are moved inwards for less risk of hooking in deep ruts or when scrubbing.
Durable black finish with standard frame protectors, featuring a new KTM-specific texture.
Forged one-piece side stand gives the KTM Enduro range the ultimate parking stability.
Subframe
Weighing in at only 1.815 kg, the new 2-piece polyamide-reinforced aluminum subframe provides impressive weight savings.
Computational dynamics, carefully calculated rigidity was engineered into the subframe, delivering outstanding handling and feedback.
Lower subframe supports and frame mounts are cast aluminium.
Upper subframe is made from an injection-molded polyamide for flex.
Subframe now more likely to flex and "bend back in to shape" following damage.
The Offroad Control Unit (OCU) is integrated in to the subframe, where it remains dry, as well as electronic components.
Swingarm
A new hollow, die-cast aluminum swingarm is designed to offer optimal stiffness and reliability at the lowest possible weight.
The topology has been optimized for rigidity, while an improved casting process reduces weight by approximately 190 g.
A new 22 mm rear axle has also been fitted to match the new flex characteristics of the chassis.
A new chain guard and chain sliders have been added, resulting in improved durability.
Chain guard has less chance of hooking on boots or external objects.
Reduction indirt build-up around the swingarm and chain guard.
Chain adjustment markings are now also visible from above.
Triple Clamps and Handlebars
A “more forgiving” high-flex steering stem for more shock absorption and flex to the rider.
The upper triple clamp now tightened to 20 Nm, and the lower triple clamp to 15 Nm, for more stiffness.
New topology-optimized bar mounts that provide increased surface area grip.
New, black, tapered NEKEN aluminum handlebars.
The same proprietary KTM bend as found on the latest KTM SX models.
A larger, newly designed KTM branded bar pad for better protection and likeminded design pattern.
WP Closed Cartridge Forks
All-new 48 mm WP XACT Closed Cartridge fork with a new mid-valve piston concept.
Optimises the oil flow within the cartridge for fast, consistent damping.
Avoids any unwanted foaming of fork oil preventing unwanted change in the damping characteristics.
A new hydro stop in the last 68 mm of the stroke.
Keeps maximum compression in reserve when tackling extreme obstacles like drop-offs.
Updated fork protection rings, against dirt intrusion.
Fork length increased from 928 mm to 940 mm.
Stroke increased from 292 mm to 300 mm.
Suspension settings taken from KTM and WP R&D.
WP XPLOR PDS Rear Shock
All-new design of the adjustable shock.
Progressive Damping System remains a signature element for KTM.
More compact, with an overall length decreased from 415 mm to 402.7 mm.
Stroke decreased from 105 mm to 102.7 mm.
380 g weight reduction.
New main piston, designed to optimize oil flow and more consistent damping.
New bearing seals which now set the benchmark when it comes to maintenance and service intervals.
Now with adjustable hand clickers, adjust on the fly without tools.
Compression adjusted on the top; rebound on the bottom.
Preload can also be adjusted by opening the securing ring with an Allen wrench and adjusting accordingly.
Ergonomics
Complete refresh of the rider triangle, in focus to knee angle when standing.
Added contact surfaces on the bodywork.
New flat seat profile with new orange grip cover.
Recessed grip pocket under the seat.
New front fender with mud fins, keeping it away from rider and radiators.
CTG (Colour, Trim, Graphics)
If you didn't know what CTG stood for, neither did I (thank you Google).
Inspired from the 1990's using purple which was the primary with KTM back then (nod to the past).
Orange remains the dominant as its proven to be durable over time.
Fuel Tank
New 8.5 litre tank for four-stroke (2 stroke gets 9 litres).
A transparent, polythene (XPE) tank with threaded filler cap.
Airbox
Redesigned for 2024.
Precisely positioned inlet ducts aimed at preventing air deformation.
Ensures maximum airflow and maximum filter protection.
Still easily accessed on the left with no tools behind a cover.
TwinAir filter and filter cage design with foolproof mounting.
Attention given to sealing the airbox for when around river crossings with a splash protector.
LED Headlight
A completely new LED headlight unit.
Light output has been improved by 300%.
Riding in the dark now completely different, a big advantage for competition and events.
The headlight mask itself integrates a triple clamp protector which covers the lower triple clamp.
Inside the headlight, the LED lighting unit receives a new quick-release system.
Can repair the headlight due to damage, negating the need to replace the entire unit.
Battery
A Lithium-Ion battery which is 1 kg lighter than a lead acid battery.
Retrofitment of a kick start is no longer possible, on any EXC or EXC-F model.
OCU (Offroad Control Unit)
The all-new and totally independent OCU replaces the use of electronic fuses and relays.
OCU can be found under the seat.
If there is a electrical component failure, outputs are deactivated individually.
Error status' are shown by a green or red LED marker, easy to diagnose when away.
No need to carry spare fuses anymore.
ROS (Roll Over Sensor)
Taken from the motocross range.
Shuts the engine off in the event of a severe crash.
Traction Control
Managed by the EMS detecting throttle input vs RPM increases.
In the event of wheel slip the power is reduced to the rear wheel.
Great for low friction, dusty hardpack surfaces, or a wet/muddy condition.
Available when the optional map switch is fitted.
Traction Control, Quickshifter are not available on two-stroke.
Quickshifer
Available from 2nd to 5th gear.
Sensor on the shift drum takes note of force and send a signal to the ECU.
Ignition timing is interupted for the shift to happen.
Available when the optional map switch is fitted.
Traction Control, Quickshifter are not available on two-stroke.
Map Switch
Switch between two engine maps.
Map 1 = mellow and standard; Map 2 = aggressive and crispy throttle.
Use the same switch to toggle between maps, traction control and quickshifter options.
Optional, not standard.
Traction Control, Quickshifter are not available on two-stroke.
4 Stroke Engine Updated
Weight savings and mass centralisation across all variants.
Engine now closer to centre of gravity, rotated 2° backward.
Front sprocket is now 3 mm lower.
Anti-squat behaviour is significantly improved.
Serviceability improved with draining noses and service markers on the engine.
Added lock positions for the cam chain for improved serviceability of the valvetrain.
Exhaust
A two-piece header pipe for allowances to be as compact as possible.
Close routing to the engine to keep it all compact, for less exposure to tree stumps and the like.
A shorter, more compact silencer that doesn't increase noise levels.
Exhaust can now be removed without removing the rear shock.
