When you’re looking at a tyre, you’ll notice that it has figures branded into the sidewalls, and it is these that indicate the fitment and the speed rating. The first fraction represents the section width of the tyre (in mm’s), while the last figure is the tyre’s load rating. This number is important as it indicates the highest permissible load weight for that particular tyre. The tyre will also usually indicate the aspect ratio and the diameter of the rims to which the tyres correspond.

We advise that you stick with the recommended tyre size because choosing a different size could alter the handling and impact the bike’s stability.
