On Saturday 27 August 2022, we had a party.
A belated party. In August 2021, Tony Armstrong celebrated 40 years of trading ownership of this business.
in 1981, Tony Armstrong's Springwood Suzuki was born. With primarily Suzuki, it quickly outgrew itself to require an expansion, which took place around 2003. Then, in 2008, multifranchising was the way of survival, and the parked name Motorcycles R Us was activiated to better represent who we'd become.
Brands have come and gone, Suzuki has always remained. Today, KTM, Ducati, GASGAS, Suzuki, Pista and Benzina Zero are motorcycle brands, plus a massive list of accessories, tyres and apparel namesakes.
In 2021, a date was set to celebrate. Lockdown life said no; it was postponed.
Tony said "lets just celebrate 50 years hehe". That's too long between drinks at the Grand View Hotel. A party was planned for 2022 and to our luck, no reason to stop it came forward.
We had a BBQ, we had Jack Field from Flair Action Sports showing his legendary trickery. We had prize draws sponsored by ourselves, KTM Australia, Moto National Accessories, Suzuki Motorcycles Australia. Someone won a KTM 12eDrive electric balance bike just for spending money in-store during August! Other prizes were drawn on the day.
With a large number of our team working here for over 10 years, trophy's were presented. Some of our crew have moved on, but then returned, and will see their decade soon. Others are about to strike the 10 year mark shortly. The average is above most stores around us; proof of the great team we are to be around.
After an early start for the team to set up, we finished on-time at 1pm.
We took some photos, enjoy the recap.
