Exciting news today as the latest performance naked from KTM Australia has arrived to us, as our demo.
The KTM 1390 Super Duke R is now at Motorcycles R Us. Produced in either orange or black, as a nod to the original 1290 Super Duke R that blew people's minds. Our orange demo is here for a while for you to glance away from your screens and see it in real life, or book a test ride available to those in the market for a new KTM.
A 1,350cc V-Twin pumping 140 kW and 145 Nm; it's no slouch but also with clever electronics allowing the power to be wound back, resulting in a calm street bike for traffic.
Software packages remain optional and can be sampled [like all latest generation KTM adventure and street bikes] straight away as this has a 'demo' mode for the Tech Pack, until that temporary period finishes.
A new generational look, in real-life it's aggressive approach is better seen here in the shop than just images. The new LED headlight and tail lamp arrangement is great for safety and makes a massive statement telling road users and onlookers what's coming or going without doubt. Bonus: the headlight is 700g lighter too.
A redesigned airbox means a better air intake but also allows for a larger fuel tank, now increased to 17.5 litres (approximate of course) for a nice range, especially considering the insane power this produces.
Updates to the V-Twin LC8 powerplant took place too with a larger bore to 110mm, hence the larger 'cc's'. Euro5 emission standard also now applies ensuring a strong future for this petrol-powered weapon when talk of electric-everything is on every bike site you come across.
New Michelin Power GP rubber keeps it all where you want it and WP APEX suspension is ideally tuned and remains adjustable, or spec up to the EVO model for full active electronic suspension (identified by the blue fork ring versus red) and when optioned with the Tech Pack earns Suspension Pro as a feature, allowing an insane amount of adjustment and automation.
As above, the livery of both bikes celebrates the original 1290, but, in 2024 KTM celebrates "30 Years of Duke" with a badge identifying this milestone is on each bike.
